For a good job with the media relations office it is crucial that the companies and the offices work as integrated as possible. Together they build schedules that can be followed, synergies in information, advance on the news, strategy alignment, and prepared spokespeople.
This last point is often overlooked, since many executives believe they have all the necessary attributes to deal with the press, however, it is not as simple as they think. The spokesperson is responsible for speaking on behalf of the company at times of crisis or not. Launches of new products, brands, presentation of results or even of a cold story.
In order to achieve the best possible result in the disclosure of an article, the spokesperson is a key part to make it happen. Understand below if your business is on the right track:
1. To understand the media which you want to achieve: nowadays news move incredibly fast. The internet has made everything more accessible and you no longer need to go home, read the newspaper or watch TV to find out what is happening in the world. To know all ways of reporting is the best way to stay on top of news agility and the importance of each media;
2.Training: sometimes, the best CEO in the world does not have the charisma and aplomb that an interview asks. The media training is an effective option to transform a CEO in a spokesperson;
3.A company does not need to have a single representative: the first thing you should consider is that a spokesperson who is available is essential for the media relations office to work assertively. Although the director or the president are very important pieces within a company, dividing the job of speaking to the media makes more press requests possible to be attended and the spokespeople will not get tired of this function;
4.At a time of crisis: to prepare yourself for a difficult interview is essential so that everything goes as well as possible. The media relations office must have a crisis manual prepared for these moments, however, it is the spokesperson’s responsibility to be informed of each key message and every information that is confidential.
If your company is aware of these four steps you are on the right track. Otherwise, it is never too late to recover.
