What is a boilerplate?

By Maira Manesco

Communication professionals often use a kind of special language for treating certain terms of the area, which often confuses the novice on the subject. One of these terms is the boilerplate, the topic of our today’s post.

Created in the seventeenth century, the term alluded to the steel sheet used in the manufacture of steam boilers for ships and the identification of the company that had produced.

Today, the term became known as “about the company”, a single paragraph that gathers key information about a particular company, such as information about its history, brief business explanation, major products and services, number of employees and winning awards and certificates .

The boilerplate is always placed after a release or a news story about the company, therefore it should be well prepared to present the essence of the organization outright.
