The media relations are responsible for managing the relationship between the source (companies or individuals) and the journalist. Therefore, it offers numerous tools when presenting your client for a possible interview: to convene a press conference, to send a source suggestion for your mailing contacts or suggest an exclusive interview.
The exclusive interview is the best option when the spokesperson has relevant and exclusive information. Therefore, the main journalists interested in an interview negotiate with the media relations and publish the news firsthand.
It is essential to align this strategy with the spokesperson so that the exclusive information does not leak before being published. If the source does not comply with the exclusivity agreement, the relationship with the journalist may be compromised, harming future initiatives of the public relations.
